Cengage Learning seeks Development Editors and Editorial Assistants

Cengage Learning is a company dedicated to delivering highly-customised learning solutions for colleges, universities, instructors, students, libraries, government agencies, corporations and professionals around the world.

Their office in Andover, UK, currently has three vacancies in its editorial department: two Development Editor jobs and a temporary Editorial Assistant job.

Both roles are brand new.

Development Editor job

The main role of the Development Editors will be to carry out research on new subject areas, new titles, adaptations and new editions with a view to HE Publisher and Commissioning Editor signing new projects, and to post-validation to project manage and work with authors on allocated projects to produce manuscripts and supplementary resources that meet market expectations and are delivered as close to schedule as possible.

To apply you should have experience in a publishing role, preferably at EA level, should have excellent organisation and communication skills, and be educated to degree level with proven intellectual ability.

Editorial Assistant job

The main purpose of the Editorial Assistant job is to provide an editorial support function to the indigenous HE Business and Psychology list, specifically the subjects managed by the relevant editors. The role also involves some Development work on new editions and adaptations involving market research and project management. 

To apply you should have a university degree or a similar vocational qualification, or relevant work experience in the publishing industry, such as in sales, production or administration.
