Find inspiration at the Galle Literary Festival 2009

Festival Director Geoffrey Dobbs
For an inspiring location, the Galle Literary Festival of January 28-February 1st 2009 is pretty unbeatable.
Located within the romantic walled city of Galle, a UNESCO World Heritage Site on the southern coast of Sri Lanka, the festival will unfold amid ancient buildings that still show the influence of the city’s Dutch, Portuguse and British occupations.
The festival will herald an altogether more genial invasion, attracting eminent writers such as Germaine Greer and Michael Morpurgo.
The theme for 2009 is the ‘Promotion of English as the Global/Link Language’, and during the Festival writers from around the world and Sri Lanka will come together for an international celebration of writing, photography, music, ecology, architecture and food.
This will be the third Galle Literary Festival. The first festival was voted by Harpers Bazaar UK as the ‘number one’ literary festival in the world.

This is your opportunity to live the label. The past two festivals had the ambiance beyond one’s imagination and a literary feast of sharp intellect. The great minds that came together had my adrenelin racing. What a genius, to have founded this event in the Fort, such a special place in the world. My warmest congratulations and highest consideration to Dobbs for doing it again! It will be another mix of Sophistication, Art, Culture, and brilliant people. Ecclectic.
