Lymington Arts Festival seeks entries for the Open Poetry Competition 2009

Josep Altarriba
The first Lymington Arts Festival is seeking entries of poems on the theme of salt to compete for over £250-worth of prizes.
Think of painful moments in life when an unkind action or word felt like salt in a wound, or focus on the beautiful crystals of sea salt. Salt tears, salty kisses, sugar and salt… Your poems can be moving, raw or humorous. Think of sea shores, salt lakes, salt-water taffy, and let your imagination take flight.
Poems must be no longer than 40 lines, must be the competitor’s original work and be previously unpublished.
There are three categories: for entrants; up to age 11; up to age 17; 18 and over.
Your name, address, category and contact details must be included with the entry on a separate sheet of paper.
Copyright remains with the author but Lymington Arts Festival reserve the right to publish entries in an anthology or for promotional purposes.
There is no limit on the number of entries you can submit.
There will be a first, second and third prize winner for each category.
Prize winners will be notified and invited to attend an award ceremony and reading to be held during the Lymington Arts Festival 2009.
The closing date for the competition is 31st May 2009.
Please send your entries to: Lymington Arts Festival Poetry Competition, Lymington Community Centre. Lymington.
