Bournemouth Uni's mix-tape MA

If you’re ready to move your media career to the next level, a fabulous new training course from Bournemouth University could be the answer.

The university has launched a new range of short courses for media professionals. There are more than 30 to choose from, so you can take just one or create a pick-n-mix MA that’s tailored to your interests and needs.

Modules include Editorial Leadership, Scriptwriting and Entrepreneurial Journalism, taught by journalist Tom Hill.

The benefits of these short media courses

Experienced academics and practitioners deliver the courses, with a two-day ‘creative retreat’ at the core of each, taking place on a Friday and Saturday in Bournemouth. This gives you the chance to network with likeminded professionals, as well as develop your knowledge and skills in the specific area of study.

An additional seven weeks of online tuition and support is available; culminating in the award of 20 Masters level (M) credits, which you can use to build you own tailored Postgraduate Certificate/Diploma or a full Masters degree.

You need 60 credits to be eligible for a Postgraduate Certificate and a further 60 credits to be eligible for a Postgraduate Diploma.

The next courses will run in March 2010.

The cost of these short media courses

The cost of each short course is £800, which may seem like a lot, but once you have completed your first short course, you’ll be entitled to a discounted rate of £675 for further short courses taken before October 2010.

A five per cent discount is available if you pay the full fee prior to or at enrolment. If you’re a Bournemouth University graduates you’ll be be eligible for a 15 per cent discount on the £800 course fee. There are also a range of postgraduate scholarships you might be eligible to apply for.
