Norilana Books call for submissions of science fiction stories featuring strong women

© Scott Snyder
Science fiction has always featured powerful and remarkable women, and to celebrate this fact, Norilana Books are currently compiling Warrior Wisewoman 3, the third volume in their annual anthology series.
The anthology was conceived in June 2008 as a sister volume to the Sword and Sorceress fantasy series originally edited by Marion Zimmer Bradley. The main difference between the two series is that Warrior Wisewoman editor Roby James will be looking for science fiction stories rather than fantasy, written for a more mature readership.
These distinctions allow for a mixture of serious contemporary issues and reasonable sexual content - but no erotica - in addition to action and adventure. Roby is also seeking stories with a strong focus on the interface between scientific exploration and our sense of wonder, allowing you to indulge your imagination and intellect in equal measure. The call for submissions is open to new writers and seasoned veterans alike.
If your story is accepted for Volume 3 of the Warrior Wisewoman anthology, Norilana Books will purchase First English Language Rights and non-exclusive electronic rights for you at $0.02 a word on acceptance, and a pro rata share of royalties, plus a contributor copy.
The anthology will be published by Norilana Books in a trade paperback edition in June 2010, to be followed later by an electronic edition. Your story can be anything up to 10,000 words in length, though Norilana mention that longer stories have “to be exceptional.”
The deadline for submissions is January 15th 2010.
Please submit your story by email as a Word.doc or .rtf attachment to roby.james@comcast.net.
The subject line of your email should say Submission: Story Title, last name of author.
You’re requested to include a brief cover letter with your full name, address, email address, title of story, number of words, and brief biographical information with most recent publishing credits, if applicable.
