Following his 2006 sell-out debut, One Man Star Wars Trilogy, Canadian actor Charles Ross is set to return to the Edinburgh Fringe with his equally inventive follow-up: One Man Lord Of The Rings.

For the show Charles will recreate JRR Tolkein’s Middle-earth armed with nothing more than a pair of elbow pads and his imagination.

The show will take place at the E4 Udderbelly, E4 Udderbelly’s Pasture, from August 6th-16th 2009.

In a form of frenetic fan fiction fuelled by sheer bravado, Charles has interpreted The Fellowship Of The Ring, The Two Towers and The Return Of The King in his own unique way, allowing you to experience the classic fantasy in just 3,600 seconds, without a single prop or costumes to distract you from the story.

Since his first Edinburgh Fringe appearance, Charles Ross has toured the world, performing his Star Wars show over 1,200 times in more than 180 cities across four continents - and his One Man Lord Of The Rings looks set to follow suit.

Directed by TJ Dawe and with lighting design by Mike Schaldmose, One Man Lord Of The Rings was selected as ‘Patron’s Choice’ for Best Play at the Toronto Fringe Festival and ‘Number1 Best Of Fringe’ at this year’s Saskatoon Fringe Festival. It’s even been given a wizard’s seal of approval by Gandalf himself, after Sir Ian McKellen caught a performance in Canada.

Sir Ian is quoted as saying: “If you liked The Lord of the Rings trilogy, you’ll love Charlie Ross’ version - and if you didn’t, well, at least his is shorter.”

Charles will perform One Man Lord Of The Rings at the E4 Udderbelly, E4 Udderbelly’s Pasture, Bristo Square (Edinburgh Fringe venue no. 300). The start time is 8.35pm shapr, and bear in mind that due to the frenzied speed of the action you may miss the most crucial parts of the story if you’re late.

Tickets cost from £7 and are available from the box office on 0844 545 8252 or at  www.underbelly.co.uk
