Salon Business seeks an aspiring editor

Leading monthly trade title Salon Business has been a major voice in the professional hairdressing industry for nearly 10 years. If you’re as interested in word cuts as haircuts, this could be the ideal job opportunity.
The Croydon-based publication is seeking an accomplished senior journalist with flair and imagination to evolve and develop the magazine. If your application is successful candidate, you will join the publication initially as Deputy Editor and progress to taking on the role of Editor after a six to 12 month period of initiation.
Your responsibilities will include every aspect of the editorial process from the conception of innovative ideas for content right through to final magazine production. You will guide the strategic development of the title on a creative and commercial level and proactively drive the editorial agenda, and producing lively news and sparkling features for the magazine and supplements. To enhance revenue growth, you will explore new avenues and originate fresh initiatives. To ensure you are fully up to speed on industry news, you will attend events and press launches. In addition you will liaise with the Web Editor to produce engaging online content.
To be in with a chance you should have a strong track record in magazine journalism and a background in trade publishing, have a passion for hairdressing and an interest in fashion, be commercially savvy, with the acumen to drive the magazine forward, be bubbling with an endless steam of creative ideas, and have the ability to lead by example and to motivate and develop the magazine team members. Some experience of managing an editorial team is desirable.
Strong negotiation and presentation skills are important, as is the ability to maintain a high standard of work under the pressure of tight deadlines
