After 14 years as a print publication, Pulsar Poetry Magazine decided to embrace the digital age, and save on production costs, by becoming a webzine after the publication of issue 52, the September 2009 issue.

The Webzine continues to be run by poetry enthusiasts for poetry enthusiasts, just as the print edition was.

David Pike, the editor of Pulsar, says “Pulsar Poetry Magazine was initially created as a local Wiltshire based outlet for poetry but soon acquired interest from all areas of the globe. We publish selected poems only and target quality rather than quantity - I’m very picky. After the September 2009 edition of Pulsar Poetry Magazine was printed, we then reverted to being a webzine only, but now post selected poems and book reviews to our web on a quarterly basis.”

To celebrate the metamorphosis, Pulsar Poetry Magazine has announced details of a poetry competition for poems of not more than 40 lines, on any subject.

The competition open to everyone over 16 years of age. First prize is £125.

David says: “I like to think that the poems published in Pulsar / Pulsar Poetry Webzine give a valid snapshot of current thinking. We publish poems from new and established poets. Basically, if a poem is good enough then it will be published on the website - it will if I’ve got anything to do about it.”

The winning and recommended poems will be published during May 2010 on the Pulsar webzine.

The entry Fee is £2.50 for your first poem, with subsequent poems costing £1 each.

Intriguingly, thought the magazine is digital, the poetry competition entries may not be, and must be sent in print format to

Poetry Competition Administrator, Pulsar Poetry Magazine, 34 Lineacre, Grange Park, Swindon, Wiltshire SN5 6DA.

The deadline for entries is April 30th 2010.
