If you’re eager to start your career in journalism, on-the-job training and experience could be just the thing your CV needs. Finding the perfect editorial internship is key and Square Mile Media are offering you the opportunity to take your CV to the next level with some hands-on editorial experience.
To be eligible to apply, you need to be a talented and creative individual, willing to work hard and able learn fast. You should have a passionate interest in the finer things in life and have at least a basic understanding of the City and its culture.
In return you will gain experience in the competitive world of glossy magazines. If your application is successful you will be working across two luxury lifestyle magazine magazines - Square Mile and Hedge - both of which are targeted at affluent City executives.
London’s Square Mile is the most affluent financial centre in the world. Square Mile Club uniquely and directly targets the people that work, play and live here by providing a monthly magazine, a destination website, e-newsletters, and exclusive events.
Square Mile reaches senior executives of the highest net worth such as bankers, traders, accountants, consultants, and lawyers. The demographic comprises AB social group, ranges between 25-55 in age, and is 70 per cent male, 30 per cent female. Square Mile has captured the imagination, acclaim and, most importantly, the time of this hard-to-reach demographic.
The City of London is one of the most highly competitive, successful and vibrant places on earth. Square Mile is its magazine.
The Hedge Fund Club is a membership club for professionals in the hedge fund industry in London. Hedge fund managers represent one of the highest-earning professions in the world - conservative estimates suggest there is £750bn of capital managed by hedge funds across the globe. 30% of it is managed from London.
Offering a range of diverse media, both on and off-line, The Hedge Magazine informs and entertains the hedge fund industry right where it matters: the heart and the wallet.
Your tasks will include article research, products call-ins and image sourcing, plus staff writing duties on regular sections and feature pitching and writing, all of which will equip you for a successful journalism career.
You will also gain a wealth of valuable contacts and networking opportunities that could lead to paid work in the sector.
The duration of the internship is flexible, but you will begin with a one-week trial to ensure both parties are satisfied.
Ideally you should be a current or recent university graduate seeking your first foray into the publishing world. Previous work experience on other publications would be an asset, but is not required.
If you feel you would be suited to this position, please email a covering letter and CV to mark@squareupmedia.com
