As autumn draws to a close, we’ve been casting around for some exciting events, news and interviews to keep you bright-eyed and bushy tailed! Yesterday we published a rundown of the festivals and events you can attend in the remaining days of November, and this week at EssentialWriters.com we’ll be publishing interviews with an inspirational author, an editor and a screenplay writer to keep you, and us, feeling fully motivated.

Take a look at the Jobs etc section on Monday for a chance to apply for a dream job for film journalists looking to work for one of the UK’s top film magazines.

On Monday afternoon you can read my interview with Mara Bergman of publishing house Walker Books, when she takes us through the publishing process step-by-step.

On Tuesday you’ll be able to read a review from our latest contributor Kathleen Jones. Kathleen has been reading Sarah Hall’s How to Paint A Dead Man and you can find out what she thinks of it. In the afternoon, you can read my interview with Kathleen, who is a significant writer in her own right.

On Wednesday we’ll provide you with news of an exciting poetry competition that invites you to use the subject of the Greek and Roman goddess of the harvest as inspiration.

In the afternoon you can read Melinda Elmore’s illuminating interview with award-winning screenplay writer and filmmaker Donald Vasicek.

Thursday gives you a chance to unwind with Beccy Downes’ review of upcoming DVD release Gambit. If you’ve seen the film, let us know what you think by leaving a comment or visiting the forums and beginning a new thread!

On Friday our weekly feature has been written by regular contributor Miles Cain, and offers an insight into how to improve your chances of success when entering creative writing competitions.

We’d love to hear from you and welcome submissions of features and reviews so if you have something you’d like to share, please send an email to Judy@EssentialWriters.com. Likewise, if there’s a literary event, competitionjob or just some interesting news you think we should know about, get in touch!
