If you love travel writing, and are in tune with the UK’s vibrant Australian, New Zealand and South African communities, TNT’s latest journalist vacancy might be right up your alley.

Since 1983, the London-based magazine has been the leading publication for Australians, New Zealanders and South Africans living in the UK, and they’re currently looking for an experienced journalist to run their flagship travel section.

Key skills required for this journalism job

To apply you should have extensive feature writing experience and at least two years’ experience as a magazine or newspaper journalist, preferably as a section editor.

You will need a genuine passion for travel and the enthusiasm to get out into the field and try out experiences, destinations and events.

Though you don’t need to be from the other side of the equator, a thorough understanding of the travel needs of Australians, South Africans and New Zealanders in the UK will be essential.

Excellent organisational skills, and the proven ability to manage a large and demanding workload are as important as a strong commercial awareness of the travel sector, an eye for quality writing, design and pictures and an ability to develop and write online travel content.

You must also have a drive to develop, and liaise with, contacts and key clients in the travel industry.

Experience of commissioning and editing stories, and the ability to develop a network of freelance contacts will be useful, as will excellent attention to detail, an abundance of fresh ideas and proficiency in Adobe InDesign or QuarkXPress.

You are advised to be equipped with a thorough knowledge of TNT Magazine and tntmagazine.com, as well as a sense of humour that will enable you to work within the spirit of TNT.

This is not a 10-6 job and will involve significant time out of the office.

If this sounds like the journalist job for you, please send your CV, a covering letter and salary expectations to careers@tntmagazine.com, with ‘Travel Editor’ in the subject line.
