Wordwide is inviting job applications from freelance editors with experience of working in contract publishing.

The role entails providing editorial and fashion direction for a shopping centre magazine, with a significant focus on fashion. The work available is likely to be a maximum of seven full days work per issue spread over 10 weeks, so flexibility is key.

Key responsibilities of this journalism job

The role entails working with the account director and art director to devise features list and flatplan to client satisfaction; writing and editing copy and attention-grabbing coverlines to a high standard, all the while delivering a consistent tone of voice in line with the centre’s brand.

In this situation the client is always right, so you must be able to accommodate client amends to sign-off. As there is no editorial assistant you will be required to work with the magazine’s stylist to call in products and then return them after shoots and reviews.

Key skills required for this journalism job

The successful applicant will understand the different pressures of contract publishing vs newsstand. You should be a strong all rounder, with masses of creativity along with a willingness to carry out all the basics right down to checking and double-checking product prices.

You must also understand the retail market, in particular how the magazine works as a vital marketing tool for the shopping centre.

How to apply for this journalism job

Please contact the magazine’s publisher, Lorne East, at lorna.east@word-wide.co.uk or by calling 020 7841 8724.
